Professional talent managers say that if you want to have your own talent agency, you only need to do two major things: to find talents and find jobs for those talents you have. The world is filled with talented people in many different fields. All you need to do have a keen eye for finding these people and you are on your way to setting up your own talent agency.

In fact you can scour for these talented individuals anywhere. Let’s say that cool band playing music that kept you dancing all night long or that group of folk singers who were adamant to come up with their own CD for a public launch on MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook. These people need a good talent manager and a good talent agency to represent them.

You can try one of the happy hour nights in the local comedy bar and you might find someone with a rare talent in one of those open mic nights. That guy who performed tricks like the great Houdini in your sister’s birthday bash can be a real genius in his field. Every now and then you might bump into a svelte and elegant-looking lady who’s looking for a break in modelling or in that latest Sydney Boat show, somebody might just be waiting to be discovered.

Work is not hard to come by for these talented people. The world is teeming with opportunities. You can find great bars and clubs who are desperately looking for talented rock bands, comedians, performers, and what have you. You can always place models in magazine ads, showroom exhibitions, product catalogues, and many more while actors they have TV commercials, voice over jobs, TV shows, movies, among others.

There are many things you have to know, so are you raring to start your own talent agency now? If you are wanting to learn more about a well run talent agency, then check out Brent Street talent agency.

A talent agency is run by doing two major activities and those are to find great talents and to consistently look for jobs for these talents, may it be temporary or otherwise. A talent agency takes care of finding work and preparing employment contracts for its pool of professional artists that can be composed of models, actors, performers, musicians, comedians, and even illusionists. These excellent-performing talents are then sent to do TV commercials, video commercials, product catalogues, radio shows, movies, and theatre production.

A talent agency sets the limelight for its newbie talents and maintains strong connections with their veteran talents. To become a talent you must submit some of the talent agency’s requirements as resume, head shots, a profile, must undergo interviews and of course the audition. A talent agency usually has its own focus on the type of talents it takes care of. Some talent agencies are more into modeling while others are more attuned to finding great musicians. There are also those that are on the lookout for actors and theatre artists.

A talent agency also has to represent its pool of clients. These clients can be an advertising agency, a casting director for a musical play, professional photographers, production firms, and even clients that directly go to the agency for their talent search. The major role of a talent agency for its talents is to help them acquire an audition or interview with a potential client. An agent who represents the talent agency manages of all the guidelines to consider, the talent fees, the collection of payment and even the wardrobe to be used for the project. The talent agency earns by the 20 to 30% percentage of the profit that a talent earns. It’s not enough that a talent agency knows how to find and hone talents; it should be able to transform a pure talent into a great performing artist.

If you are interested in talent agencies then check out our article on Brent Street, to read more about professional talent agencies in Australia.

Now that you what it takes to have a talent agency, are you ready to take the plunge now?

Deciding to build a career in the entertainment industry as an actor or model may be the boldest decision you have ever done; but it can also be the greatest one. You can fancy the glamour and fame, but at the very instance you decide on it, all your family, friends, and loved ones are the first ones to give you the “the worst decision maker of the world” award. Then they tell you you’re better off working as a postman or that there’s a vacancy in Coles. They think in that manner you will be able to bring home a regular paycheck to help out with the expenses.

You can’t blame your folks, because the moment they hear the word actor they think of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They have no idea of the small time actors and models that are handled by talent management companies. All they know is that this may be a fruitless endeavour. But more likely you would still decide to do it anyway, if it is really what you want to do for yourself.

There’s a big chance that you are already on a talent management web site, as you look for a talent agency that can help you with your dream. You won’t have to worry. You can have a shot to your dream. With some experience from some small gigs, a well presented portfolio, some great training classes in any well reputed training school, you can land a job in the acting and modelling field with no fuss. You can double your chances by having a great make-up artist and a talented photographer with you. Remember that models and actors rate high for photo sessions, music videos, and even film and TV commercials.

You just have to make a choice. Would you rather have a boring day job or live an exciting life as an actor? You can do it with just a few trainings, a talent management agency, and hard work.

Check out our profiles on Australian talent agencies, the first one is Brent Street. We hope you enjoy it.

Looking to learn how to start a talent agency? The knowledge is the key to it all, after that, the rest is incredibly straightforward. The actual running of such a business can be reduced down to 2 major aspects; finding good talent, and finding roles for these talented people. These are the 2 most vital aspects in learning ways to start a talent agency, plain and simple.

For example, do you remember that killer band that played that rockin’ music at that bar you and your buddies went to that weekend? Are they well represented? They should be, am I right? Or how about that incredibly adept stage wizard that performed at your little brother’s birthday party? And naturally, many of us know someone that is making an attempt to break into an acting or singing career.

There are lots of techniques, means, and venues for finding talent, and often, they are screaming to be found.

There are a few sources for this. For models there are catalogs, TV commercials, runways and magazines; for musicians there are bars and clubs, concerts, radio stations, recording apartments, and background sessions; for up-and-coming comedians we might find on “open mic” nights, there are comedy clubs, parties, conventions and TV shows; for actors and actresses, there are Television commercials, voice-overs, animation voice acting jobs, plays, and more. Whilst these are 2 major facets of ways to start a talent agency, there are more to cover. Would you like to learn more?

We are currently doing profiles on Australia’s premium talent agencies and the first profile is Brent Street.

Although you can’t teach somebody to be gifted, you can hone skills that are already ingrained. So with that, research faculties or private lessons on the sort of variety artist you need to be such as a wizard, Acrobat, contortionist, and so on. Their is no need to spend thousands on so called ‘performers universities’. Some of the best performers I have worked with never attended a ‘mega school’ for the arts. Instead, they just had a good tutor.

Get practice before crowds even if it is not not performance art. If you are used to public work when you start your art you will be more centred your work and less centred being nervous.

A ‘Stage show’ is one routine that lasts anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. ‘Walk About’ involves you performing as you circulate through a group doing your act one on one with attendees or patrons. Company clients or non-public parties will either request a stage show or walk about. Casting directors who are auditioning you for a film or television gig just need a one minute bit. Therefore, you will need to develop a good 30 minute act, a good 5 minute act and a good one minute act

No one wants to hire an act based on a business card alone. If you cannot sell the act in one minute, you most likely cant sell it at all, and anything longer than 5 minutes gives too much way. Once your act is down pact, get authorisation from a venue you are performing at to let your friend sit up front and take a video of you. Make it obvious to the venue chief that you are going to only be taping your act and not other acts and be sure to explain the video you shoot is for you to be ready to show to future clients. The demo tape is significant as it’ll get you 2x as much work. Be sure your chum gets some crowd shots to show reactions to your performance. Copy your video and have it in place when possible clients inquire.

Practice to the point to where its dull. Things that folks find fascinating to look at who pay for the privilege have a tendency to need to watch things that are complex to learn.

Finding work can be difficult, you may want to start with references from buddies in the beginning. Be willing to work at first free or tips only whilst the client promises to refer you if they like your act. Once you get sufficient referrals from pleased clients you can decide to start accepting money. As an instance, a starting magician should ask for $75 per hour. A beginning acrobat or contortionist could ask for $350 per hour. When I say ‘hour’, that implies either for one act or a whole hour. If you show up and are only needed to perform for 5 minutes you should generally get a 60 minutes hour rate minimum whether its an hour or five minutes.

You should have a minimum of one year of paid professional experience as a variety artist before you seek an agent. Because you get an agent does not mean you must stop trying to stop trying to find work. Depending on the state you reside in, your agent only takes a share of what they find you and not what you find you.

If you are interested in premium talent agencies, then check out our profile on Brent Street. We think you will find it interesting.

Somebody who says that starting a talent agency is simple and easy is not telling the truth, but when you believe that you can do it as it is your passion, then maybe it is a lot easier for you.

Somebody who says that starting a talent agency is simple and easy is not telling the truth, but when you believe that you can do it as it is your passion, then maybe it is a lot easier for you. They say that to start your own talent agency all you need to have is connections. You are indeed the centre of the game, being connected to seasoned performers, having a pool of real talents, and at the same time helping clients like advertising firms, casting directors, and production firms that are looking for talents to promote their products or their services or be part of their next musical play to be staged.

Having a wide and strong network is not however the be all and end all of the game. You need to work hard for the relationships as well. Remember that your talents need you to land them an interview or an audition with a client and a client on the other hand wants a real talent for his business. An agent representing your talent agency will be in charge of the talent’s pay, his wardrobe, employment contract, among others. The agency should make sure that the needs of both sides should meet.

A talent agency would often have a top talent in the company. He should work hard to retain that talent, fully aware that this talent is the reason for the talent agency’s reputation. The agency must be able to find ways to keep him challenged and always excited about his job. He should be given the opportunity to discover new things in his field. Most importantly, as a talent manager always keep in mind to pair up great talents with those of the same calibre. Great talents always want to be with more of their kind.

If you work well with people and have the knack for scouting talents then it’s high time you started your own talent agency. You can take the structure, organisation, and excellent standards that Brent Street Talent Agency has been adhering to all these years.

Traditionally, talent companies compete for having the best talents in the flock. Professional actors and sports pros know well that they can be agents of themselves. Most of them would go after a great package, and not just a whopping talent fee. In the cut-throat competition, there are ways to keep your top talents in your fold, not too eager to jump off into greener pastures on the other side of the fence.

First is by giving them the best team support. It is inherent in man’s nature to want being in the league of the greats. Remember that top talents always want to be with other top talents because it will make them strive to become better in their field. So if you want to keep your best talent in the flock, you shouldn’t stop looking for more of them.

Second, the best talents want to feel that they are treated well in the company. This makes them feel that they are valued. That is why Google gives free car wash and oil change in the parking lot every day. There are also top talent organizations that provide free use of facilities during work hours.

Third, keep it hot. You have to make their job so exciting they can barely think of leaving. Yes, motivation is necessary but when it comes to excitement, you have to do better than that. Give them something new: a new client, a new topic, a new work environment, if necessary. When the manager slackens, the first thing a talent wants to do is jump into the next boat that comes around.

Fourth, keep them learning and challenge them to do some things that are different from what they are doing. Let them solve problems. This will keep them revved up for good. They should be able to give suggestions and attempts to help solve concerns. That way you keep their minds working and their energy alive.

If you are really interested in finding out how a talent agency really works, then we recommend checking out our article on Brent Street.
